Theme parks for Punta Cana

Punta Cana / Bavaro - The Spanish company that manages the Aqualandia and Mundomar theme parks in Benidorm, Spain has purchased 200,000 square meters of land in the Dominican Republic to build a water park and animal-themed park, with dolphin shows. http://www.levante-emv.com/secciones//...
This would follow in a stream of complementary attractions going up in the area. Already, Dolphin Discovery Island and Manatee Park of the Moreno brothers, from Spain, operate in the region. The Meister investors originally from the Bahamas have plans to build a sister park to their Ocean World park in Cofresi, Puerto Plata and have purchased land to do so. There are also reports that Wet & Wild water parks company of the United States, is interested in building a park in the Punta Cana area.

The east coast announces good numbers of visitors

Punta Cana / Bavaro - The hotels at the Dominican east coast announce good assigment numbers. While the book us ratios at the north coast prepare concerns for quite some time, the region Punta Cana and Bavaro keeps itself stable. Good service and wonderful beaches (our photo) are convincing arguments for an unencumbered vacation. 18,000 rooms are available at the east coast.

Jimmy Carter coming for the holidays President Hipolito Mejia announced that former US President (1977-1981) and winner of the 2002 Noble Peace Prize, Jimmy Carter, will visit the country on 30 December. He is expected to arrive on Monday and will spend the holidays in Punta Cana accompanied by 26 family members, assistants and friends. He is also scheduled to participate in a bird-watching tour during his stay. The President’s press office also said that President Mejia would also host former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former President of Argentina Fernando de la Rua early next year. Vom 25. November 2002 an startet die LTU Fluggesellschaft mit einem zusätzlichen Airbus A 330-200 ab Düsseldorf in Richtung Punta Cana. Bereits ab 937 € bringt der Düsseldorfer Ferienflieger seine Gäste im Zwei-Wochen-Rhythmus zusätzlich montags auf die Karibikinsel. Wie gehabt, starten die rot-weißen Jets darüber hinaus jeweils freitags und samstags ab Düsseldorf, freitags und sonntags aus Frankfurt, donnerstags aus München sowie mittwochs aus Berlin-Schönefeld. 04 / 2002	Neue Strassenverbindung nach St. Domingo	20.11.2002
Eine neue, unter dem Namen "Coral Highway" geplante Schnellstraße, soll künftig die Straßenverbindung zwischen La Romana und dem Touristengebiet von Punta Cana deutlich verbessern. Nach Angaben der Planer soll sich über die rund 62 km lange und vierspurig geplante Strecke auch die Fahrtzeit zwischen Santo Domingo und dem Airport Punta Cana erheblich verringern und statt der bisherigen vier Stunden künftig nur noch zwei Stunden betragen. Der Mangel an guten und sicheren Straßen hatte bisher viele Touristen davon abgehalten, das Land außerhalb der großen Hotelkomplexe zu erkunden. Die Realisierung des Projektes erfolgt unter der Führung des Ministeriums für Öffentliche Bauvorhaben mit einem Investitionsvolumen von 245 Millionen US-Dollar. Quelle: domrep-magazin

Iberoamerika-Gipfel der Staats- und Regierungschefs *Bávaro / Punta Cana* - Spanien, Portugal und die Staaten Lateinamerikas haben ihr jährliches Gipfeltreffen mit neuen Appellen zur Überwindung der Armut abgeschlossen. Die Staats- und Regierungschefs von 21 spanisch- und portugiesischsprachigen Ländern verabschiedeten am Samstag in der Dominikanischen Republik eine Erklärung mit 56 Punkten, die unter anderem zu wirksamen Schritten gegen die Schuldenkrise aufruft. Das Zentrum, was im Jahre 2001 erbaut wurde, ist 50´000 m² gross und hat 19 Millonen USD gekostet. Im letzten Jahr wurde auch die Zufahrtsstrasse und der gesamte Eingangsbereich der Hotelanlage ganz neu gemacht. Vor dem Eingang wurde ein Kreisverkehr angelegt und an den Zufahrtsstrassen wurden hunderte neue Königspalmen gesetzt.

Bávaro schafft 10 Jahre ohne Stromausfall Bávaro /Punta Cana - Eine private Elektrizitätsfirma, das Konsortium Energético Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM), welche sich der Stromproduktion und Verteilung widmet, feiert diese Woche ihr 10 jähriges Bestehen und diese Zeit auch ohne Stromausfälle. Der Schlüssel zum Erfolg sei, wie der Direktor Carlos Martínez de la Escalera sagt: "Die Inversionen müssen immer mit einem kleinen Vorsprung vor den Forderungen gemacht werden" Ein Niveau von 99% der Kunden, welche den Strom zahlen, zeige: "Wenn der Stromservice Qualität habe, seien die Leute auch bereit für den Strom zu zahlen." Laut Zentralbank sind von den 2'323'540 Besuchern dieses Jahres (Januar bis September) 41,5% über den int. Flughafen Punta Cana, 26,6% über den int. Flughafen Las Americas und 20.7% über den int. Flughafen Puerto Plata ins Land gekommen. Anmerkung: Das sind in 9 Monaten 964´270 Touristen in Punta Cana. Pro Jahr kommen hochgerechnet 1´285´693 Touristen nach Punta Cana
